Weekend Teaser: Bees are playoffs bound

Image
Bees dig deep and come away with the playoff berth Bees win against Solway Sharks to clinch last playoff spot Bees headed to Romford on Saturday evening to play the Raiders, who like Bees were looking to cement a place in the playoffs. The first period saw Bees take the lead twice, the first goal a shorthanded goal by Marcel Balaz. Adam Laishram equalised for the Raiders before Will Stead scored Bees second. The period ended 2-2 as Laishram was on target again. The second period saw the Raiders go ahead with 2 more goals for Laishram and Bees were behind by two going into the third. The Raiders scored 4 more goals in the third to win 8-2 and book their place in the playoffs. After the second period I had an inkling that the team tactics were to take the foot off the pedal if Raiders scored one more which is what appeared to happen. At that stage the Sharks were beating Tigers and the Bees game against the Sharks the following evening was looking like being even more crucial than it alr...

Weekend Teaser: If ever the team needs a four point weekend it's now as the playoff battle intensifies

Bees remain in playoff berth with valuable win against the Raiders Bees take two points from gruelling three game weekend Last weekend pushed Bees to their limits with three games starting with a home fixture against the Raiders. Raiders scored the only goal of the first period which was against the run of play, Tjay Anderson the scorer who has a way of raising his game against the Bees. Bees probably returned to the dressing room wondering how they were behind. Dom definitely worked out what the guys had to do as they came out and dominated the second period. In a practice what I preach moment Dom was the first Bees goal scorer of the night. This was then followed by goals from Marcel and Liam. Liam's goal was the result of an incredible move which gave Ethan James no chance and is what I like to describe as a put your hands up in the air goal as you couldn't help but celebrate. Finally Will scored the Bees fourth, he has definitely found his mojo and is back to the form ...

Weekend Teaser: Three game weekend for Bees as playoff push intensifies

Pink Bees deliver best performance this season Bees come away from the double header with Lightning with valuable two points Mathematically Lightning were still able to catch the Leeds Knights so they weren't going to go light on the Bees who are desperate to maintain a top 8 league place. Saturday night in Milton Keynes Bees pushed the home team all the way. At the end of the first period Bees were leading 2-1 with two goals from Marcel Balaz. The teams tied the second period each scoring two goals, Will Stead scored bees third and Marcel completed his hat trick giving Bees a 4-3 lead going into the third. The Lightning scored three goals, all on the powerplay, in the third period before Adam Rosbottom brought the Bees within one goal. With time running out Preece was brought to the bench to gain the extra outskater but the inevitable empty net goal literally on the buzzer gave the home side a 7-5 win. It was a great game to watch for both teams supporters and set up an exciting...

Weekend Teaser: Double header with the Lightning is going to be tough

Another crucial weekend awaits the Bees A four point weekend for the Bees   With four teams realistically fighting for the three available playoff berths every point is crucial. An away fixture in Swindon and a home game against the Pitbulls probably left many thinking that a two point weekend would be a good result. Well those of little faith were doing the Bees a disservice as, despite being 4-1 down in Swindon by 24.01, Bees managed to tie the game in regulation with a scoreline of 5-5. Overtime could not split the sides and penalty shots were required. It took nine rounds of penalties before Lubwele failed to score and Bees banked the extra point. Bees were without Vanya Antonov on the night and Adam Rosbottom stepped up to the first line. Wildcats could not defend against this line with Adam scoring one goal and a brace for both Marcel and Dom. Bees gave the Wildcats too many powerplay opportunities and they were clinical on them scoring 3 PP goals. Bees dug ...

Weekend Teaser: Bees look to stay in play off contention

Every point is vital as regular season enters final month Unlucky against the Wildcats  The Bees only had one fixture last weekend but it was a big one as the Swindon Wildcats visited Slough. Wildcats earned a 2-0 win against the Bees but honestly I feel Bees could have taken something from the game as despite the scoreline they were a match for the Cats but just couldn't get a break. Defensively Bees tactics worked well, Wildcats first goal was something out of nothing, a sniper of a shot taken by Bebris and their second a powerplay goal by Jones. What Wildcats did to thwart the Bees was they shut down the centre of the offensive zone, Bees were often caught out when cross ice passes were intercepted and didn't capitalise on the powerplay opportunities given to them. Although it didn't feel great to be shutout on the night, to limit the Wildcats to just 2 goals is pretty good and on another day that would produce a win.    This result leaves Bees 8th in the ...
