Weekend Teaser: Bees look to stay in play off contention

Every point is vital as regular season enters final month

Unlucky against the Wildcats

The Bees only had one fixture last weekend but it was a big one as the Swindon Wildcats visited Slough. Wildcats earned a 2-0 win against the Bees but honestly I feel Bees could have taken something from the game as despite the scoreline they were a match for the Cats but just couldn't get a break. Defensively Bees tactics worked well, Wildcats first goal was something out of nothing, a sniper of a shot taken by Bebris and their second a powerplay goal by Jones. What Wildcats did to thwart the Bees was they shut down the centre of the offensive zone, Bees were often caught out when cross ice passes were intercepted and didn't capitalise on the powerplay opportunities given to them. Although it didn't feel great to be shutout on the night, to limit the Wildcats to just 2 goals is pretty good and on another day that would produce a win.
This result leaves Bees 8th in the league, level on points with the Sharks. Bees edge the Solway team on head to head and also have a game in hand on the team from Dumfries.

Player of the Weekend Results

Congratulations to Brython Preece who with 43% is our player of the weekend, this is Brython's fourth player of the weekend win this season and he shares this accolade with Vanya and Marcel.

Next - Bees play the Wildcats away before the Pitbulls visit Slough

Bees will be buoyed by limiting the Wildcats to just two goals last weekend and this tight defensive play is what will be required to have any chance of taking a point or more away from Swindon. Hopefully the guys will be able to find a way past Marr and pressure Wildcats into making a few mistakes and giving up some unnecessary penalties.

Sunday sees the Bristol Pitbulls visit Slough. Although bottom of the league the Pitbulls have faired well against the Bees this season and had benefitted from the addition of Brennan Feasey earlier in the season who seemed to know his way around the Bees defence. This week Feasey asked to be released from his contract as he had received an exciting job opportunity in North America. As Pitbulls top points scorer this will be a huge blow for the Bristol team and hopefully something Bees can benefit from. Raiders host Solway on Sunday, the result of this game will have a huge impact on Bees play off chances. Bees need to ensure they are in control of their own destiny and hope the other results in the league are favourable to them. Have a feeling it's going to go down to the wire, not sure the nerves will handle it.

All that is left to say is safe travels to the Bees players and supporters heading to Swindon on Saturday and the same to the Pitbulls and their fans travelling on Sunday. Come on you Bees!
