Weekend Teaser: Season gets underway
Season gets underway on Friday in Peterborough
Bees fall short in attempt to retain everyone active cup
The Bees have failed to retain the everyone active cup, which will spend the next season in Romford.
On Saturday, a dominant first period from the Bees took them to a 2-0 lead over their London rivals, however 4 unanswered goals put the Raiders in a dominant position in their away leg, but a late goal from Brendan Walkom would keep it to a one goal game going into the second leg.

Sunday was where things started to unfold for the Bees, with the Raiders entering the ice with the most belief in the first period and going on to score 5 goals and almost instantly securing that the Everyone Active Cup would not spend another season in Slough. It was a ruthless first 20 minutes which saw every half chance turn into a goal. Penalty trouble came in the second and third periods for the Bees, with both Josh Martin and Stuart Mogg being sent to the changing rooms, and we'll have to wait until later in the week to find out about any potential suspensions that we may have picked up from the incidents.
The Bees, along with Goss in net, would have a positive final 40 minutes of the cup with 3 unanswered goals but ultimately that wouldn't be enough to overturn the Raiders huge lead, with them ending up 9 - 6 winners.

Pre-season done, now the focus is the league
It's really hard to preview the upcoming weekend because it has been tough to get a real understanding where all the teams are at. Peterborough Phantoms had mixed fortunes in their pre-season with 2 wins, both coming away from home in Romford and Milton Keynes. Phantoms will be, for sure, the favourites going into Friday's game and it will need a good strong effort from the Bees to get the win to kickstart their NIHL National campaign, but I wouldn't put it past them especially if our imports can continue their impressive form in pre-season.
Here is the Phantoms Roster:
On Sunday the Bees will meet local rivals Basingstoke Bison once again in Slough Ice Arena. Bees had a very impressive defensive performance at home against the Bison less than two weeks ago, limiting the Bison to just the one goal - with the Bees coming out 2-1 overtime winners. It's sure to be another close game, but the hopes of the Bee Army are that the Bees can get the victory on home ice.
Let's have a reminder of the Bisons Roster:
