Weekend Teaser: Double header with the Lightning is going to be tough

Another crucial weekend awaits the Bees

A four point weekend for the Bees

With four teams realistically fighting for the three available playoff berths every point is crucial. An away fixture in Swindon and a home game against the Pitbulls probably left many thinking that a two point weekend would be a good result. Well those of little faith were doing the Bees a disservice as, despite being 4-1 down in Swindon by 24.01, Bees managed to tie the game in regulation with a scoreline of 5-5. Overtime could not split the sides and penalty shots were required. It took nine rounds of penalties before Lubwele failed to score and Bees banked the extra point. Bees were without Vanya Antonov on the night and Adam Rosbottom stepped up to the first line. Wildcats could not defend against this line with Adam scoring one goal and a brace for both Marcel and Dom. Bees gave the Wildcats too many powerplay opportunities and they were clinical on them scoring 3 PP goals. Bees dug in deep and got the job done.
Sunday saw the bottom of the table Pitbulls visit Slough. They made Bees work hard for the two points on the night with Bees narrowly winning 4-3. Vanya earned the man of the match for 1+2 on the night, Bees other goals coming from Gianni, Dom and Marcel.

It's easy to pick out the points scorers but the four points were as a result of a huge team effort, each and every player played their part over the two matches.

Player of the Weekend Results

Adam Rosbottom takes his second player of the weekend win of the season with 42% of the vote, Brython Preece was second with 29%.

Next - A double header with the Lightning

Bees head up to Milton Keynes on Saturday before the Lightning make the return visit on Sunday to Slough. Lightning sit second in the league and, with Leeds proving to be unstoppable, that's how the top two will finish in all likelihood.   Lightning picked up a lot of penalties last weekend but it appears DOPS have overlooked these as no further disciplinary action has been taken. Bees will be under no illusion that these games are going to be tough as Lightning have only lost one game at home all season. Their away record isn't as impressive as they seem to struggle in the smaller rinks which hopefully bodes well for Sunday's game in Slough.

All that is left to say is safe travels to the Bees and the fans heading up to MK on Saturday and to the Lightning and their fans travelling on Sunday. Come on you Bees!
