Weekend Teaser: Bees target 4 point weekend

Bees venture into the unknown as we play the new kids on the block

Bees come out of weekend pointless against Knights

Both the Bees games last weekend were against the Leeds Knights who are currently sitting at the top of the league table. The team can be really proud of their performances on both nights and although they didn't come away from either game with any points there were plenty of positives. Bees were first to score on Saturday night but were to be hit with an impressive  second period from Leeds that saw them score 4 unanswered goals and Bees could not find a way back. Both teams scored a further goal each in the final period leaving Leeds 5-2 victors.

Sunday night saw Leeds head to the Slough Ice Arena for the first time this season still riding high on their success from the previous evening. This game was a closer affair, Knights laying down the gauntlet early on but Bees didn't allow them to dominate as they had the day before. Bees had a run of minor penalty calls in the first half of the game, but the penalty kill was on the whole very effective. The turning point was Brendan Walkom's superbly finished goal in the second period, this brought Bees back to just the one goal behind and you could then see the belief in the team that this game was not over. Up until the 40 minute mark it seemed that Leeds players could do no wrong however during the third period they started picking up a few penalties, and although goals were traded to give Leeds a 5-4 lead, the Bees had the belief that they could draw the game level and they came really close to taking the Knights into overtime but the clock was not on their side and 5-4 was to be the final score.

Player of the Weekend Results

Congratulations to Brendan Walkom who has picked up his second player of the weekend award this season with 52% of the vote. Will Stead was the runner up with 24%.

Coming up the Bees first meetings with the Pitbulls and Seahawks

Bees head to Bristol on Saturday night for their first encounter with the Pitbulls and then welcome the Seahawks from Hull into the Slough Ice Arena on Sunday. Both teams are new to the league this season and although they haven't made the best of starts they can't be underestimated.
We will see many familiar faces playing for Bristol, most notably Ed Bradley who made the move from Bees to the Pitbulls in the off season who signed on a 2-way contact with the Cardiff Devils. A number of Slough Jets players who donned the Bees shirt last season are also on their roster with 2-way deals but as Slough have a fixture on the same night they will most likely be icing for the Jets.
The fans will also recognise many of the Hull Players from our league and we may see former Bee Curtis Warburton in the net who is currently also on a 2-way deal with the Steelers.

@beesihcfans will be in Bristol to bring you updates and news from the match as it happens, you'll be relieved to know we won't inflict a Twitter Radio Chat on you like last weekend.
