Weekend Teaser: If ever the team needs a four point weekend it's now as the playoff battle intensifies

Bees remain in playoff berth with valuable win against the Raiders

Bees take two points from gruelling three game weekend

Last weekend pushed Bees to their limits with three games starting with a home fixture against the Raiders. Raiders scored the only goal of the first period which was against the run of play, Tjay Anderson the scorer who has a way of raising his game against the Bees. Bees probably returned to the dressing room wondering how they were behind. Dom definitely worked out what the guys had to do as they came out and dominated the second period. In a practice what I preach moment Dom was the first Bees goal scorer of the night. This was then followed by goals from Marcel and Liam. Liam's goal was the result of an incredible move which gave Ethan James no chance and is what I like to describe as a put your hands up in the air goal as you couldn't help but celebrate. Finally Will scored the Bees fourth, he has definitely found his mojo and is back to the form we saw him in last season. Bees took a 4-1 lead into the second period break and despite Raiders pulling back a goal in the third Bees walked away deservedly with the two points.

No chance for the team to celebrate or even have a lie in as the team coach left at 7am to make the journey to Dumfries for that evenings game against the Solway Sharks. It was a must win game for the Sharks who were looking to move themselves nearer the playoff berths and that's what they did. They had already done enough by the first period break as they took a 3-0 lead into the second period. They then extended their lead to 5-0 before Dom and Dan brought the Bees back to 5-2. This was how the second period finished and with a goalless third period the Sharks swam away with the win.

Sunday saw the Bees make the journey to Leeds to take on the Knights. This is never an easy fixture for any team in the league but with the Knights looking for a point to clinch the league title they were never going to go easy on the Bees. To be fair to the Bees they worked really hard and tied the first and third periods but Leeds had three unanswered goals in the second period which put the game out of Bees reach. Bees goals were scored by Dominik Gabaj, Gianni Vitali and Ed Bradley. Positives from this result are that the Bees put in a great competitve performance, never gave up and proved Brett Shepherd, who was given the nod between the pipes, is a solid back up who can walk the walk when he's needed.

Bees ended the weekend in 8th position, two points behind the Raiders in 7th and two points ahead of the Sharks in 9th. Over the three games Bees had 11 different points scorers which is pretty impressive.

Player of the Weekend Results

Congratulations to Liam Morris who received 46% of the vote, with Dominik Gabaj our runner up with 29%.

Bees next games are against 7th and 9th in the league!

Raiders currently sit 7th in the league just two points ahead of the Bees. The placings for 7th, 8th and 9th are so close that series results could come into play and Bees know that a win in Romford on Saturday will move them above the Raiders as although they will be tied in points Bees will have the series win. A loss of any kind will see Bees stay behind the Raiders as goal difference between the teams will then be the deciding factor and Raiders have the advantage having scored 21 goals against the Bees compared to 17 goals scored by the Bees against the Raiders. Their stand out player is Adam Laishram with 83 points from 45 games.

Bees will then play the Sharks at home on Sunday. Another must win game given the Solway team beat the Bees by 5-2  a mere 8 days before. This time they will have the coach legs and hopefully Bees can take advantage of the home fixture.

Safe travels to the players and fans of both teams. We'll be there to bring you updates.
