Weekend Teaser: What to expect as the Bees take on the Pitbulls and Wildcats

What does weekend twenty five have in store for the Bees?

Season weekend twenty four review

Last weekend the Bees had a double header with the Hull Seahawks, facing them on Saturday in Slough before heading to Hull on Sunday. Although the Seahawks numbers were depleted through bans they proved to be the better team on both nights. Saturday night saw the Bees on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline. Bees only goal was scored by Will Stead and assisted by Marcel Balaz and Dominik Gabaj. Sunday the Seahawks won 6-2 with Emil Svek scoring a hat trick. The Bees goals coming from Marcel Balaz assisted by Ralfs Circenis and Ty Cathcart, and Stuart Mogg who scored unassisted.

My opinion - The Seahawks have been clinical with their play against the Bees all season and were unexpectedly disciplined over the weekend and maybe a little fortunate on Saturday that the officials decided to overlook or possibly miss a few calls. I felt the Bees missed Liam Morris and Marcus Mitchell but Hull looked worthy of their 4th place in the league based on their performance. Max Wright was outstanding as usual but even his reliable presence wasn't enough to keep the Seahawks contained.

Player of the Weekend Result

Congratulations to Max Wright who is the player of the weekend, he wins his 7th player of the weekend this season thanks to your votes on Twitter with 55% of the vote. Max registered save percentages of 91.3% and 90.32% and he showed why he is one of the best netminders in the league.

Next: A visit to Pitbulls followed by a home game against the Wildcats

The Bees head to Bristol on Saturday to play the Pitbulls who have had a bad run the last two weekends as injury has hit their squad hard. They won't want to be reminded that in their last four games they have scored 10 goals and conceded 41. Social media posts this week suggest that many of the injured players will be back this weekend which is probably not what the Bees want to hear. With Slough Jets playing Streatham on Saturday night it is highly unlikely that any two-way players will be available for the Bees however Liam Morris should be back in the line up as his suspension games have been sat. There are two games left between the Pitbulls and Bees this season and currently the Pitbulls are edging the series, Bees will want to reverse this on Saturday night but with a sellout crowd the Pitbulls will have plenty of fans behind them.

Bees welcome the Wildcats on Sunday as they make the trip to Slough. The Swindon team are currently 3rd in the league and up until very recently looked like they could be title contenders but only banking two points on each of the last two weekends has put that out of their reach unless something seriously bad happens to the Knights and the Lightning. Their top scorer Jake Bricknell is 9 points away from 100 points this season and the depth in their squad means every line is a threat. Goalie Renny Marr sits just above Max Wright in the stats for the season as Renny looks on track to record his best season in the NIHL to date.

All that is left to say is safe travels to the Bees players and the travelling fans heading to Bristol on Saturday and to the Wildcats players and travelling fans heading to Slough on Sunday.

Come on you Bees!
