Weekend Teaser: The Bees prepare for some tough games
What does weekend ten have in store for the Bees?
Season weekend nine review
The Bees played the Telford Tigers twice last weekend. The first game was at home on Saturday where the Tigers came away with a 6-1 win. Bees goal was scored by Dominik Gabaj. Whilst I concede the Tigers were the better team on the night, there were some missed calls that the Bees bench may have felt a bit aggrieved about. They were however unable to score on a 5 on 3 and the Tigers capitalised on their chances.
Sunday saw the Bees travel to Telford. The Tigers were limited to just 2 goals but as the Bees were unable to beat Brad Day in the Tigers goal, the Tigers earned themselves a 4 point weekend. Max Wright had a save percentage of 93.75 on the night.
My opinion - These were must win games for the Bees and with Vanya Antonov absent on the Saturday night and some of the two-way players unavailable on both nights it made the job impossible for the team. They never gave up and were disappointed in some of the missed calls but the powerplay was poor and this is where Bees need to capitalise when given the opportunity.

Next: Away at Leeds and home to Swindon
The last time Leeds played the Bees was in Slough and the Bees edged a 3 goal thriller. This is one of only four losses for Leeds this season so far. But this time they meet in the Knight's castle where the Knights have only dropped one point all season in an overtime loss to the MK Lightning. Coming away from Leeds with points requires a lot of stars to align and the Bees are going to have to pull out something special to do that. Leeds sit at the top of the league but it is fair to say they are not finding this season as comfortable as previous ones. Having said that they are still a formidable team and only last Sunday they came back from being 3-0 down to the Wildcats to win 5-4. Their top three scorers are Matt Bissonette, Matt Haywood and Matt Barron. Sam Gospel currently has a save percentage of 90.91 for the season.
The Wildcats visit Slough on Sunday. This is the third time the teams have met this season and in the previous games Wildcats have come away with the win. They looked like a team that would be challenging for a top 4 league place but they find themselves down in 7th. Their top scorers are not surprisingly Jake Bricknell and Tomasz Malasinski but both players have considerable penalty minutes to their names too. Bees need to rely on getting some powerplay opportunities and to capitalise on them to edge past this team. The Wildcats have a three game weekend this week with a game in Bristol on Friday, a home game on Saturday against the Phantoms before heading to Slough on Sunday. Let's hope the Pitbulls and Phantoms work them hard!
All that is left to say is safe travels to the Bees players and travelling fans heading to Leeds on Saturday and to the Wildcats players and travelling fans heading to Slough on Sunday.
Come on you Bees!
