Weekend Teaser: Bees look to get back to winning ways
What does weekend eight have in store for the Bees?
Season weekend seven review
Last weekend the Bees faced the Hull Seahawks home and away. Unfortunately the Bees were short benched due to the lack of availability of many of the two-way deal players and were still missing Josh Smith and Hallam Wilson too.
The home games saw Bees take the lead within the first five minutes as Will Stead was on target. Sadly this was to be the Bees only goal, not for the want of trying. The Seahawks went on to score four goals and although Max Wright registered a 91.11% save percentage, the Seahawks were just too good. The Seahawks goalie, Dmitri Zimozdra ended the night on a 96.67% save percentage and he was outstanding.
The Bees travelled up to Hull with even less skaters than Saturday night. All things considered they did well to come away with a 6-1 loss. Dan Rose scored the only Bees goal, a powerplay goal assisted by Will Stead.
My opinion - Hull are definitely one of the teams looking to win the league this season so any team will struggle against them if they are short benched. The Bees put up a good fight and considering the shortage of players they did well to contain the Seahawks as much as they did. My only concern is how competitive the Bees team will be over the whole season if the two-way players are not more readily available to play. We know on a good day the team is capable of beating anyone so we have to hope the short benched games are minimal.

Next: Away at the MK Lightning and home to the Raiders
Bees visit the Lightning on Saturday who top the league with 20 points from 14 games. Ross Venus is their top scorer with 13+15 so far this season but the depth in their squad means that the Bees will need to focus on all the lines as there is no telling where a goal may come from. Both Streatham and Slough have games on the same day but the Cardiff Canucks have made Josh Poole available to the Bees for the weekend so he will be back on the ice for the Bees.
On Sunday the Bees welcome the Romford Raiders who currently sit 4th in the league. They have exceeded most people's expectations with a solid start to the season and head into the Bees game after a close win over the MK Lightning on Friday evening. Topping their scorers are imports Shaun Miller who currently has 31 points and Andrew Shewfelt with 26 points. The Raiders have brought in Zachary Yokoyama as cover for the injured Adam Laishram. Yokoyama was released by the Tigers as an attempt to rectify their poor start to the season but at Raiders he is already on 8 points from 3 games so it looks like he wasn't the problem in Telford. Like the Bees, Raiders have some two-way signings and some are in partnership with the Slough Jets. The Jets do not have a fixture on Sunday so we may see Christian Mohr and Seb Mohr on the ice for the Romford team and hopefully Ollie Hemmings-Maher for the Bees.
All that is left to say is safe travels to the Bees players and travelling fans heading to Milton Keynes on Saturday and to the Raiders players and travelling fans heading to Slough on Sunday.
Come on you Bees!
