Weekend Teaser: A double header weekend with the Hull Seahawks
What does weekend seven have in store for the Bees?
Season weekend six review
A weekend of mixed fortunes as Bees faced the Pitbulls away and then back in Slough. The Pitbulls have had a difficult start to the season and on Saturday evening in Bristol the Bees were definitely the better side despite being short benched and losing Balaz in the first period. Bees came away with a 4-2 win with the goals coming from Marcel Balaz, Adam Rosbottom, Will Stead and Vanya Antonov. Dominik Gabaj assisted on three of the four goals.
Bees welcomed the Pitbulls to Slough on Sunday and the team from Bristol were looking for revenge for the previous night's defeat. Despite the Bees being 2-1 up with goals from Liam Morris and Will Stead, they allowed the away team back into the game. The Pitbulls made the most of their chances and left Slough with a slender 3-2 victory.
My opinion - When the lower half of the league is so tight wins against your nearest rivals are vital. It was always going to be a tough weekend particularly with the Bees short bench on the Saturday due to the unavailability of the two-way players. The biggest problem though was the loss of Marcel for the Sunday game. He has such a massive impact on the whole teams performance and his absence on Sunday highlighted this. Whilst many of us wanted more, banking two points over the weekend at least maintains the teams momentum in the league and given the circumstances was a decent outcome.

Next: A double header with the Seahawks
Bees welcome the Seahawks to Slough on Saturday before making the trip to Hull on Sunday. The Seahawks, at the time of writing, are 3rd in the league with 15 points from 11 games. They have built a strong team for this season's campaign and have some high scorers among their lineup. Owen Sobchak tops their scoring and is the league's top scorer with 28 points. Jason Hewitt is just behind him on 24 points. The Hull team have gone with three offensive imports and play a physical game. They are the league's top penalty taking team with an average of 21.82 minutes per game compared to the Bees who have the lowest penalty minutes with an average of 11.33 per game. The Seahawks have the second best penalty kill in the league and the second best powerplay success too. Bees weakness is their powerplay with a success rate of just 16.36% which is the worst in the league. If Hull provide the Bees with some powerplay opportunities then they need to work hard to capitalise them. The one piece of good news for the Bees is that the Seahawks will be without Johnny Corneil who is currently suspended for 3 games as a result of an illegal check to the head. Having said that the Hull team has an incredibly strong line up and it will be a tough weekend with Bees having to give their all to have a chance of banking some points.
All that is left to say is safe travels to the Hull team and fans travelling to Slough on Saturday and to the Bees team and fans heading to Hull on Sunday.
Come on you Bees!
