Weekend Teaser: Bees move upto 8th in league after four point weekend

Bees deliver four point weekend

Bees come out on top in must win games against the Steeldogs

The Bees and Steeldogs fans were treated to two exciting and close games and as the teams went head to head home and away. Steeldogs haven't had much luck in recent weeks but if they haven't been at their best it looks like they are turning their form around. In Slough, on Saturday evening, Bees came away with a 5-3 win with Marcel Balaz scoring a hat trick and Vanya Antonov and Ed Bradley on target too. Bees successfully defended a 5 minute penalty and Brython Preece who returned after being sidelined for a couple of weekends stood firm in between the pipes. Bees then made the journey to Sheffield on Sunday where the teams continued where they left off with another evenly matched contest. The scores were tied 3-3 after regulation but it didn't take long for Marcel Balaz to score in overtime to bring the two points home. Bees goals came from Zaine McKenzie, Ed Bradley and Marcel bagged a couple of goals to add to his hattrick from the previous evening. Zaine scored his first goal after returning to the Bees and what a goal it was! Ed Bradley is proving exactly why Dom wanted him back on the roster, he compliments the other defenders perfectly and isn't afraid to show his offensive presence when the opportunities arise. The whole team effort was outstanding with every player playing their part to keep the Bees in playoff contention.

Player of the Weekend Results

After a phenomenal weekend there's no surprise that Marcel Balaz is our player of the weekend with 83% of the fans vote.

Next - The Sharks swim into Slough and the Bees visit Phantoms

Saturday 10th February sees the Solway Sharks visit Slough for the second time this season having won in overtime the last time they made the trip. Sharks currently sit 7th in the league two points ahead of the Bees in 8th but Bees have a game in hand. With four teams fighting for the last two playoff places a win for Bees is vital to keep them in the running and to ensure their destiny is on their own hands.

Bees visit the Phantoms on Sunday who are currently 5th in the league and look comfortable to secure a playoff place. Bees have beaten the Phantoms in Slough both games this season but lost 5-3 in the only meeting in Peterborough so far. Phantoms home form is good with 12 wins from 18 fixtures this season and Bees will have to work hard to bring the points home.

All that is left to say is safe travels to the Sharks and their fans travelling on Saturday and to the Bees and travelling fans heading to Peterborough on Sunday. Come on you Bees!
