Weekend Teaser: Bees focus on keeping the Tigers caged
Bees aim to catch the Tigers by the tail
Well earned 2 points for Bees as Hull meet their match
Last weekend saw two thrilling games as the Bees faced the Seahawks in a double header weekend. Bees made the long road trip up to Hull on Saturday looking for some points to keep them in playoff contention. The game plan wasn't on track for some time as Hull raced away to a 4-0 lead at the end of the first period. Bees fell a further goal behind in the second period before they finally got on the board at 36.07 with a goal from Gianni Vitali. The teams went into the second period break with a 5-1 scoreline in favour of the Seahawks. The third period saw the Bees big push as they brought themselves back into the game. Vanya Antonov scored Bees second goal at 43.43 and just over 2 minutes later Dominik Gabaj scored Bees third. At 51.04 Marcel Balaz scored Bees fourth goal and Bees were right back in it. With three minutes remaining in the third Dom was probably starting to think about Bees plan to tie the game but a 2 minute penalty on Zaine at 57.29 put a spanner in the works or did it? Bees completed their comeback at 58.18 when Marcel Balaz scored shorthanded. The third period ended 5-5 and a goal from Bobby Chamberlain in overtime gave Hull the extra point.
Sunday saw Hull make the trip to Slough. This game was to be a tight affair, the first period ending 1-1 with Ed Bradley scoring for the Bees. The second period saw each team score just the one goal with Marcel Balaz being credited with a Hull own goal which was created from Marcel's perseverance in the offensive zone. The teams went into the third period looking for the game winner but a scoreless period saw the Bees secure another valuable point. Overtime could not split the teams and Seahawks were more successful with their penalty shots giving Hull the extra point.
A two point weekend from these fixtures is massive and gives the Bees the confidence they need to push for one of the playoff places.
