Weekend Teaser: Christmas week double header with the Raiders

Bees move up to 7th with gutsy performance in Sheffield

Bees take two points out of four in last games before Christmas

Bees travelled to Swindon on Thursday 21st December to play the first away game of the season against the Wildcats. The opposition proved too strong for the Bees who lost Balaz to injury in the warm up with the Wildcats taking an 8-4 win. Bees goals coming from Dominik Gabaj, Olly Knaggs, Josh Smith and Aidan Doughty.

On Saturday 23rd December Bees faced the Steeldogs in Sheffield and didn't have the best of starts as they fell 2 goals behind within the first three minutes and were then to lose Balaz for the remainder of the game after a 5+game call for spearing. The second period saw Steeldogs picking up a few penalties, one of which provided Josh Smith the opportunity to open the scoring for the Bees with the only goal of the period. Bees needed to pull something out of the bag in the third period and that they did with Dominik Gabaj tying the game at 52.28 and then Gianni Vitali finding the winner at 57.13. The 3-2 win allowed Bees to leapfrog the Steeldogs up into 7th in the league.

Player of the Weekend Results

Congratulations to Gianni Vitali who received 41% of the vote, with Dominik Gabaj our runner up with 32%.

Bees next games are double headers with the Raiders

Raiders currently sit 9th in the league with 7 wins from the 24 games they have played in the league to date. Their stand out player is Adam Laishram with 43 points from 21 games. There are a few former Bees in the Raiders line up; Mikey Power and Zack Milton plus Matt Smital who left Bees in the off season for Bristol where it didn't work out for him.The teams have only played once so far this season when Bees had a 5-1 win in Romford but since then both teams have seen some changes so it will be interesting to see how they match up now.

Bees will be hoping to put some more points between themselves and the bottom three teams in the league but you never know what you are going to get with these fixtures. We do know these two games will be exciting and tense affairs and are not to be missed.

Bees home game faces off at 4pm on Boxing Day and the away game in Romford the following day has a 7.30pm face off.

Safe travels to the players and fans of both teams. We'll be there to bring you updates.
