Weekend Teaser: Pitbull double header to end 2023

Image
Bees double header with Raiders didn't go to plan Raiders too strong for the Bees Bees had their traditional double header with Raiders starting with a home game in Slough on Boxing Day. Bees were missing Marcel Balaz, Vanya Antonov, Josh Kelly and Harvey Stead and to be honest it was clear that one or two players were carrying injuries which inhibited their ability. It simply wasn't Bees day who were definitely second best to a great performance from the Raiders who won 10-1 with Bees only goal coming from a breakaway taken superbly by Adam Rosbottom. The Bees faired a little better in Romford but still were second best to a rejuvenated Raiders team who came out 5-2 winners on the night. Bees goals came from Marcel Balaz and Dominik Gabaj.  Player of the Weekend Results Congratulations to  Liam Morris  who received 50% of the vote, with Adam Rosbottom and Will Stead tied for second with 18.8% each. Up next a double header with the Pitbulls Pitbulls have not had th...

Weekend Teaser: Christmas week double header with the Raiders

Bees move up to 7th with gutsy performance in Sheffield Bees take two points out of four in last games before Christmas Bees travelled to Swindon on Thursday 21st December to play the first away game of the season against the Wildcats. The opposition proved too strong for the Bees who lost Balaz to injury in the warm up with the Wildcats taking an 8-4 win. Bees goals coming from Dominik Gabaj, Olly Knaggs, Josh Smith and Aidan Doughty.  On Saturday 23rd December Bees faced the Steeldogs in Sheffield and didn't have the best of starts as they fell 2 goals behind within the first three minutes and were then to lose Balaz for the remainder of the game after a 5+game call for spearing. The second period saw Steeldogs picking up a few penalties, one of which provided Josh Smith the opportunity to open the scoring for the Bees with the only goal of the period. Bees needed to pull something out of the bag in the third period and that they did with Dominik Gabaj tying the game at 52...

Weekend Teaser: Twas two games before Christmas

Last games before Christmas  MK too strong for Bees but an overtime win against Tigers raises the roof in Slough   On Saturday Bees made the trip to Milton Keynes to play the in form Lightning who have been thrashing the opposition of late. Bees were short benched with Antonov, Gabaj, Harvey Stead and Josh Kelly all absent so to come away with a 5-2 loss was a very credible performance.  Dan Rose and Ryan Webb were Bees goal scorers on the night. Sunday saw the Tigers visit Slough and we were treated to one of the best home games of the season so far. The first period ended 0-0 (well it would on Air the Bear evening!). Tigers took the lead in the second period before Moggy levelled up the scoreline, the period was to finish 1-1. The Tigers took the lead again in the third with a powerplay goal but Adam Rosbottom was on hand to level the scores again. Tigers then went ahead with their third goal of the evening and Bees had no choice but to pull Bryth...

Bees Roster: 2023/24

Image
For the upcoming 2023/24 season, there are some new regulations which all the clubs must follow surrounding the age of their roster. This can be quite confusing for the average fan, so as the Bees announce their roster throughout the summer we will breakdown which category each player falls into. These limits apply to the gameday roster of each team, so you can technically sign more players for a category, however they would not be able to play at the same time. By category: Category 1: 25 or over Stuart Mogg Harvey Stead Vanya Antonov Will Stead Dan Rose Brendan Baird Aidan Doughty Ryan Webb Liam Morris Brython Preece Adam Rosbottom Josh Smith Currently signed 12 of the gameday maximum 11 players in this category. Category 2: Under 25 Brett Shepherd Harry Harcup Josh Kelly Ed Bradley Currently signed 4 of the gameday maximum 4 players in this category. Category 3: Under 21 Jack Hoppes Zaine McKenzie Currently signed 2 of the gameday maximum 2 players in this category. Category 4: Unde...

Weekend Teaser: Last home game before Christmas

Last home game before Christmas  Leeds too much for unlucky Bees   With just one game last weekend against the unstoppable Leeds Knights, Bees found themselves on the wrong side of a 5-2 scoreline. With the Bees missing Will and Harvey Stead through suspension and Dominik Gabaj through illness, the welcome additions of temporary signings Joe Baird and Marcus Mitchell and the long awaited return of Josh Kelly together with Brython Preece overcoming his injury from the Bristol game were still not enough to overcome the Knights. It was an entertaining game with great goals from Josh Smith and Stuart Mogg, unfortunately for Bees Sam Gospel in the Leeds goal was outstanding on the night and there's not much you can do when he's making great quality saves. Player of the Weekend Results This week's vote was won by  Stuart Mogg  with 50% of the fans vote, Gianni Vitali came in second with 22%.  Next - The Bees head to Milton Keynes on Saturday before welcomin...

Weekend Teaser: Can Bees get back into winning ways?

Image
Bees look to sting the Knights Injuries and suspensions stretch Bees too far The Bees played away in Telford on Saturday night before returning to Slough to face the Swindon Wildcats on Sunday. Brett Shepherd found himself between the pipes for both games as a result of the injury Brython Preece sustained against the Bristol Pitbulls the previous weekend. Although the team didn't come away with the points from either game you could not fault the players effort and passion for the team to do well. Saturday's game saw a plethera of penalties for both teams but for the Bees the most significant were to the Stead brothers who both received 5+game penalties which then ruled them out of Sundays game. A loss of 8-4 in Telford on Saturday and a loss of 5-3 to Swindon on Sunday has allowed the Bees to slip to 8th in the league and they are only 4 points above the nearest team below them. Player of the Weekend Results Congratulations to  Olly Knaggs  who with 54% is our player of ...

Weekend Teaser: Bees aim to get back on track

Image
Bees encounter toughest weekend of the season so far Bees come close in Leeds but Pitbulls finally find their form The Bees travelled to Leeds last Saturday for the hardest away fixture in the calendar .  Bees trailed by 2-1 at the end of the first period, Josh Smith finding the back of the net for the Bees. Leeds scored twice in the second to take the score to 4-1 and were to extend their lead further just under 6 minutes into the third period. Bees then started to get back into the game with two goals in 21 seconds coming from Gabaj and Vitali. A timeout and the inevitable empty net did not produce the goals to bring the Bees back level and Knights finished with a 5-3 win. Sunday saw the Bristol Pitbulls make the journey to Slough. Their team haven't played to their potential up until this weekend and some restructuring seemed to do the trick for them as they came out 6-0 winners on the night. Every team can have an off night and this was the case for the Bees, more worryin...
