Weekend Teaser: Bees take on top and bottom clubs
Bees look to sting the Knights and Pitbulls
A well deserved point against Lightning
The Bees only had one fixture last weekend but it was a big one as the Milton Keynes Lightning made their first visit to Slough this season. MKL are never a team to take lightly and it was clear that Dom and the boys had a game plan to keep the Lightning at bay. Bees were missing Jack Hoppes, Ryan Webb and Josh Kelly but were boosted by Ty Cathcart and of course Gianni Vitali the new import who had now had some time to recover from jet lag. It was Gianni who was to put the Bees ahead but not until 37.18 into the game and they took the 1-0 lead into the second period break. As you would expect from MKL they worked hard looking for the equaliser and it came to them 6.23 into the third period, Herrman finding the net. Neither team were able to find the game winner in regulation so 5 minutes sudden death overtime was required. Bees had some good chances to finish the game off but Will Kerlin, who had come into the net due an injury to Jordan Hedley, was unbeatable. MKL were to find the game winning goal with just 48 seconds of overtime to go and claimed the extra point.
Probably the best game we have seen at the Hangar so far this season and both teams were a match for their rival on the night. Seeing Jordan Hedley injured on the ice was very worrying for everyone, MKL reported he is "alright" so we're hoping he has a speedy recovery.

Next - Bees play top and bottom teams
No game in this league is easy whether you are up against the league leaders or the team sat at the bottom and this is the scenario Bees face this weekend. On Saturday they head up to Leeds who with 13 wins and 2 losses this season are in a strong position in the number one position. Any team going into their Castle is going to find it hard but they are not unbeatable just very good at not losing. Who knows how the game will go but I do know the Bees will go there believing they have a chance especially after the close game with MKL. Keeping Kieran Brown under control will be high on the Bees priorities, as no doubt our imports and Vanya will be on theirs.
Sunday sees the Bristol Pitbulls first visit to Slough this season. The teams have played each other once so far this season where Bees came away 7-2 winners in Bristol. Pitbulls are in the process of restructuring their roster after their poor start to the season announcing the departure of Matt Smital and Ralfs Circencis earlier this week. It's hard to see why the Pitbulls are struggling as on paper they have a decent squad but the players are just not making the impact they should. Juha Lindgren left Bees for the Pitbulls in the off season and so far he has 4+1 from 15 games, he is a much better player than these stats suggest. Whilst a fan of Juha, I hope he doesn't find his mojo until after the weekend!
All that is left to say is safe travels to the Bees players and supporters heading to Leeds on Saturday and the same to the Pitbulls and their fans travelling on Sunday. Come on you Bees!
