Weekend Teaser: Weekends don't come any tougher than this
Bees look to add more points after strong start to the season
A hard earned three point weekend
Friday evening saw the Bees navigate the M25 to play the Raiders in Romford. Bees had managed to sign Ty Cathcart as cover for Harvey Stead who was unavailable for the third match in a row. Bees made a perfect start with the first goal coming from Dom and then two from Aidan Doughty giving the Bees a 3-0 lead at the end of the first. A scoreless second period left Raiders with a lot to do in the third. Nick Leyer brought the scoreline back to 3-1 but Bees then stopped the Raiders comeback with two further goals from Moggy and Balaz. This was a whole team effort as Brython Preece made many great saves plus the players who didn't get on the scoresheet also played their part with shutting down the Raiders and drawing clever penalties too (notable Olly Knaggs who caused the Raiders a few headaches).
Sunday saw the Sharks make their first visit to Slough and boy did they show the Bees they meant business. They raced to a 3-0 lead in the first with some clinical finishes and it looked like Bees were going to have to dig deep to get some points on the night. Dig deep is exactly what they did as Dan Rose scored an excellent goal to bring the scoreline back to 3-1 in Sharks favour at the end of the first. There was only one goal in the second period as Solway extended their lead to 4-1. Third period was owned by the Bees as Marcel scored, followed by Moggy (who is on fire lately) and then Marcel found the net again(how the roof stayed on the Hangar I will never know as the supporters went wild. One point in the bank for each team and overtime would decide the other point. Sadly for Bees they were to go on the penalty kill on what was a debatable call and the Sharks extra man gave them enough of a boost to find the game winning goal. The Sharks were delighted with their win, Bees worked hard to get a point and learned a lot about their opposition. Pretty sure Bees won't allow the Sharks to be so quick off the mark time they play but Bees showed why they are where they are in the league with the way they brought themselves back into the game.

Who doesn't love a bit of Billy Ocean? lol. The Bees face fixtures against the first and third teams in the league and are looking to continue their great start to the season. Firstly Bees head up to Leeds on Saturday to face the current league leaders, the Leeds Knights. This is the Bees first visit to the castle this season but the teams have already met in Slough at the start of this month and it was a close affair with the Knights edging the Bees by one goal. This season Bees record on the road is impressive with four wins and one loss and Leeds home record is identical. Leeds one home loss came last Saturday to the Swindon Wildcats who came out 4-2 winners. Hopefully Bees can do the same in the castle. Keeping Kieran Brown under control will be high on the Bees prioities, as no doubt Dom and Marcel will be on theirs. These three players are at the top of the players points table, Brown with 15+8, Dom with 9+14 and Marcel with 10+11. They are the only players in the league with over 20 points to their name to date.
Sunday sees the Hull Seahawks first visit to Slough this season. Just two weeks ago, the Bees made the trip to Hull via Dumfries and it didn't go to plan. Seahawks came out all guns blazing and Bees didn't have a chance as Hull scored seven goals and their goalie Jordan McLaughlin recorded the team's first shutout of the season. Many Hull supporters commented that the Bees worked so hard that night but Hull were relentless. Pretty sure Dom and the boys won't let them do the same in Slough. The players to look out for are Emil Svec, Bobby Chamberlain and Finlay Ulrick.
All that is left to say is safe travels to the Bees players and supporters heading to Leeds on Saturday and the same to the Seahawks and their fans travelling on Sunday. Come on you Bees!
