New Signing: Brython Preece

Brython Preece Joins the Bees

Following the blow that Pavel Krajcovic and the Bees are unable to facilitate his move to the UK (probably as a result of falling short of UK Visa requirements), exciting news has lifted the fans that Brython Preece has signed for 23/24.

Brython began his hockey with the Cardiff Devils junior teams before venturing to play in the Ontario Hockey Academy in 2014/15 and 2015/16. The following year he made the move to play in the WSHL for the Utah Outliers before returning across the pond in 2017/18 to play for the Coventry Blaze. He then made the move Dundee where he has played for the Stars where he remained until signing for the Bees.

Brython is 25 years old and will wear number 44. He is the tenth player to fill a spot in Bees category 1 over 25's section leaving just one more place available in this category. He's not the first player to make the move from the Elite League to the NIHL during the off season, the opportunities in the NIHL to homegrown players have become tempting. The lure of more on-ice time which can only enhance development combined with time to invest in both personal and professional interests in an expanding and highly competitive league is a huge incentive for some.

The loss of Pavel and the signing of such a talented homegrown minder now allows Dom to complete his import signings. Many questioned the decision to go with an import goalie, we'll never know if the tactic would have paid off. Having lost both goalies from last season it was probably the only option at the time, realistically Dom must be delighted with not only signing a goalie who is in the top 4 GB goalies at the moment but now having the ability to sign two further imports to help the Bees push for silverware next season.
