Weekend Teaser: Bees deserved more than one point from last weekend but it wasn't to be

Bees deserved more than one point from last weekend but it wasn't to be

100% commitment and performance from the Bees

Bees travelled to Basingstoke for what was to turn out to be a Saturday night thriller. Games against the Bison are always exciting, passionate and nail-bitingly close and this game was no different. At the end of regulation the teams were tied 4-4, Bees goals coming from Will, Harry and Brendan with two, his second goal was incredible. Overtime could not split the teams so a shootout, which wasn't without controversy, resulted in Bison gaining the extra point.
Sunday saw the Knights visit Slough and they came out all guns firing. By 5.06 in the first the Knights were 3-0 up but you have to hand it to the Bees they raised their game and started to fight their way back. Dom was on target at 7.49 and this was to be the last goal scored until Will Stead scored a powerplay goal timed at 44.16 in the third. Bees had piled on the pressure in the second period with 17 shots on goal but Gospel stood up tall to them all, Leeds had signs of tiredness and a little panic but he kept them in it. With the score at 3-2 in Knights favour the inevitable timeout and goalie pulling gave Bees just over two and a half minutes to tie the game. The equaliser wasn't to be and Knights found the empty net with just one second of the game left, final score 4 - 2 in Knights favour. Sam Gospel was incredible on the night, Bees really put the foot on the gas but he was invincible. For a neutral it would be hard to guess which team were top of the league. Sadly Josh Smith and Luke Jackson had to retire to the "injury balcony" during the game, hopefully we will see them return soon.

Player of the Weekend Results

Congratulations to Will Stead who with 41% of the vote is this week's player of the weekend. This takes his season total to 5 with only one player with more weekly wins, Brendan Walkom has 8 wins to his name.

Coming up the Bees head to Sheffield and the MK Lightning come to Slough

Bees play the Steeldogs on Saturday hoping to repeat their win over the Yorkshire team of two weeks ago. The Steeldogs sit comfortably in 4th in the league and are biding their time until the playoffs. Presumably at this stage in the season they don't want to risk getting any injuries if they have any chance of retaining their playoff title from last year. Expect a close and clean match.
Sunday sees the Lightning visit Slough. They will be looking for the win as nothing else will do as Knights are on the verge of winning the league and MK can't afford to drop any points if their slim hopes of catching them are to stay alive. We all know what to expect, there will be goals, penalties and a lot of MK fans and it should be a great game
