Weekend Teaser: Bees start 2023 with a visit from the Phantoms

Bees start 2023 with a visit from the Phantoms

Raiders take the four points over the Christmas break double header

Raiders edged the Bees home fixture by 3 goals to 2 and by a scoreline of 4 goals to 1 in their rink.
Juha Lindgren was absent for the Bees and with both Dom Gabaj and James Galazzi still serving bans this was always going to be a hard couple of games. Raiders seem rejuvenated from their poor season last year, Alex Roberts has also made a huge difference to their scoring threat too.
Our goal scorers were Seb Mohr, Ryan Webb and JJ Pitchley. Seb scoring his first Bees goal and looks more than capable of holding his own in our league. Ryan Webb has found some excellent form when the team needed it the most and JJ Pitchley is showing signs that he is returning to the great player that we know he is. All the players really worked hard and would have been disappointed to not earn any points over the two games, especially the home fixture where they deserved more.

Player of the Weekend Results

Congratulations to JJ Pitchley on his player of the Christmas break with 50% of the vote, Bees assistant captain Harvey Stead came second with 34%. Who will be up for the vote next?

Coming up the Bees meet third place Phantoms

Bees welcome the Peterborough Phantoms on Monday 2nd January for the first game of the new year with a 4pm face off. Phantoms are currently sitting third in the league having lost only a handful of games all season. A lot of Phantoms success can be attributed to the depth of players in their squad with Glenn Billing, Duncan Speirs, Lukas Sladkovsky, Corey McEwen and Ales Padelek all in form so far this season.

Bees news is that Juha Lindgren should be back in the line up today and whilst Bees didn't beat Phantoms on their last visit to the Slough Ice Arena we saw a solid performance from the home team. This game marks the start of the second half of the season and also, by our calculations, this will be the last game that Dominik Gabaj will miss through suspension. There is a lot of hockey still to be played and plenty of points available too. Keep the faith and keep beelieving!

Happy new year from all of us @beesihcfans
