Weekend Teaser: M25 Derby Double
M25 Derby Double
'Twas the weekend before Christmas
Saturday night saw Bees make the road trip to Leeds. With just 11 skaters and 2 minders, we don't like to make life easy but although coming away with a 8 - 6 loss you can't say the lads didn't give it everything they had. Scoring for the Bees were Brendan Walkom and Ryan Webb with two goals each, a cracking goal from JJ PItchley (definitely watch the Leeds highlights for that) and Alan Lack was also on target not only on the goal but on Joshua Hodgkinson too! Gospel was in the net for Knights and he is a hard goalie to beat, in fact this season he has only conceded more goals in one other fixture. He is the second best goalie in the league at the time of writing with a save percentage of .915, the Bees can take a lot away from the evening if not the two points.
Sunday saw the Milton Keynes Lightning visit Slough. Again the Bees put up a great performance considering their low numbers and the opposition. The final scoreline was 6 - 3 in Lightnings favour but Bees were equal to their opponents for most of the game but perhaps had tired legs going into the third period, the hard match from the night before coming in to play. Bees did not concede any penalties all evening and Matt Smital stood up well to his former team. Brendan Walkom continued his good form with a hat trick, giving him a total of 5 goals for the weekend.
Player of the Weekend Results
There was only one player who was going to "Walk" away with this weeks vote, congratulations to Brendan Walkom who wins with a whopping 60% of the vote. It was a tough week for the other contenders but with 5 goals and 1 assist last weekend he was a tough act to beat.

Coming up Bees are home and away with the Raiders
Bees host the Raiders on Tues 27th Dec with a 4pm face off before making the trip to Romford on Wed 28th Dec with a 7pm face off. Raiders currently sit 6th in the league having had a good first half of the season. What can Bees do to get the better of the Raiders? Well firstly we need to stay glued to Matthieu Gomercic who has 11 goals and 22 assists to his name so far this season, if he's not scoring them he's making them as he's contributed to a third of all Raiders goals so far this season. Secondly we need to stay out of the box and make the most of any powerplay opportunities we are given. Finally we need to pepper the goal with shots, Ethan James has a save percentage of .862 and Bradley Windebank fairs only slightly better with .872. Sounds easy? Bees games against Raiders are never easy but always entertaining and not to be missed.
