Weekend Teaser: M25 Derby Double

Image
M25 Derby Double 'Twas the weekend before Christmas  Saturday night saw Bees make the road trip to Leeds. With just 11 skaters and 2 minders, we don't like to make life easy but although coming away with a 8 - 6 loss you can't say the lads didn't give it everything they had. Scoring for the Bees were Brendan Walkom and Ryan Webb with two goals each, a cracking goal from JJ PItchley (definitely watch the Leeds highlights for that) and Alan Lack was also on target not only on the goal but on Joshua Hodgkinson too! Gospel was in the net for Knights and he is a hard goalie to beat, in fact this season he has only conceded more goals in one other fixture. He is the second best goalie in the league at the time of writing with a save percentage of .915, the Bees can take a lot away from the evening if not the two points.  Sunday saw the Milton Keynes Lightning visit Slough. Again the Bees put up a great performance considering their low numbers and the opposition. The fi...

Weekend Teaser: Christmas Weekend

Image
Christmas Weekend Pitbulls and Seahawks too strong for Bees Bees were to suffer two losses last weekend, they were the wrong end of a 7-1 scoreline in Bristol on Saturday and although Sunday's home encounter with Hull was a much closer affair, the Seahawks came out winners with a 2-0 scoreline, their second goal being an empty net goal. There was a controversial non-call when Bees believed there should have been an icing call, the officials and the Bees were obviously either not reading the same rule book or didn't see what happened in the same way. Either way, the officials call the game and sometimes decisions go against you and sometimes they go in your favour. It just seems Bees don't seem to be having any luck at the moment.  Player of the Weekend Results Congratulations to Sebastian Mohr  who is our player of the weekend with 41% of the vote, Alan Lack was second with 30%. Who will be up for the vote this weekend? You can view all our player of the weekend winners...

Weekend Teaser: Two must win games this weekend

Image
Two must win games this weekend Well last weekend didn't go to plan Bees were the club to benefit from a rest day last weekend before welcoming the Basingstoke Bison to Slough. Bison had played Telford Tigers the previous night and had convincingly beaten them by 6 goals to 3. There we were hoping the Bees fresh legs would provide a tough game for Bison  but that wasn't to be the case as they were still flying high after the euphoria of the previous nights win. Everything Bison threw at the Bees seemed to work for the visiting team and they had already put three goals on the scoreboard by the end of the first period with Bees without reply. An early goal for Bison in the second period saw Matt Smital make way for Gossy but Bison who were on fire managed to get one past Adam before the end of the period which ended 0-5. Bison were to add 2 more goals in the third period before Bees' Will Stead finally scored a powerplay goal. Then the penalty boxes got very busy. At 52.30 it...

Weekend Teaser: More like last weekend please Bees!

Image
More like last weekend please Bees! A weekend that provided hope and promise and two points After the coaching changes during the week and the fact that Dom couldn't actually coach from the bench we were all a bit uncertain about how the weekend would unfold. On Saturday night Bees welcomed Peterborough Phantoms to Slough, a team who are in form at the moment and currently second in the league. Dan Rose was the first player to find the back of the net after a well placed pass by Stuart Mogg. Phantoms tied the game at 1-1 going into the first period break. The second period started with a goal that Matt Smital will want to bury and forget and then Phantoms extended their lead but Bees were to pull back one goal from Juha Lindgren which brought them within one of Phantoms heading into the third.  Phantoms were to extend their lead to 4-2, Bees started to pile on the pressure and Scott Spearing's perseverence paid off as he won the puck back and passed to Will Stead who sniped ...
