Weekend Teaser: Bees desperate for win as three game weekend approaches

Bees desperate for win as three game weekend approaches A disappointing weekend for the Bees  It's fair to say that many of us thought the visit to Romford to take on the Raiders on Saturday night was a good opportunity to put some more points on the board. We have had many close battles with them and both teams are currently placed in the bottom half of the league. Bees were down a few players due to injury but the fans were excited to see Vanya Antonov icing for the team. The Raiders won the first period 2-1 and the Bees won the second period by the same scoreline so it was all to play for in the third period. Raiders edged ahead just 8 seconds into the period, Aaron Connelly scoring his 200th point for the Raiders, and then they added a further two goals to their haul. From then on Bees started piling on the pressure and they brought the score back to 6-5. Gossy retired to the bench to allow the extra skater on the ice but Raiders found the empty net with 52 seconds...

Weekend Teaser: A weekend with the Raiders and the Steeldogs

A weekend with the Raiders and the Steeldogs Bees fail to add points to their league and cup tallies  With high hopes after the three point weekend Bees came across two tough opponents last weekend and sadly no points were gained. On Saturday night in Sheffield the Bees stood up well to the Steeldogs and at times appeared to be the better team. With a 0-0 scoreline heading into the third period it really could have gone either way. Steeldogs were the first to score but just 37 seconds later Dominik Gabaj brought the Bees back level. Steeldogs edged ahead again and then were awarded a penalty shot. A great stop from Gossy kept the score at 2-1 but shortly after Steeldogs were able to add one more goal to their tally and this was to be the last goal of the evening. The Steeldogs owed much of their win to their netminder who was on top form and made some huge saves during the match.  Sunday saw the Telford Tigers first visit to Slough. The league champions from last ...

Bees face leagues champions

A weekend with last seasons playoff champions and league winners Bees add some points to the tally with a 3 point weekend  Last week we said in our weekend preview that Pitbulls and Seahawks hadn't made the best of starts to the season but they couldn't be underestimated. How right we were! Saturday evening saw the Bees head to Bristol for our first game against the Pitbulls. Bees scored just after the one minute mark and it's fair to say a few of us travelling fans thought we were going to have an easy night but the Pitbulls had other ideas and by the 24th minute of the game they were 5-1 up and looked to be cruising to a win. Coach Sheppard decided to swap netminders and DWE took to the ice. Shortly after this Dom scored at 26.51 to bring the score to 5-2 but we would have to wait until the last 10 minutes of regulation time for Bees to turn it on when Dom's hat trick goal followed by a goal from each of the Stead brothers tied the game. Overtime didn't produce t...

Weekend Teaser: Bees target 4 point weekend

Bees venture into the unknown as we play the new kids on the block Bees come out of weekend pointless against Knights  Both the Bees games last weekend were against the Leeds Knights who are currently sitting at the top of the league table. The team can be really proud of their performances on both nights and although they didn't come away from either game with any points there were plenty of positives. Bees were first to score on Saturday night but were to be hit with an impressive  second period from Leeds that saw them score 4 unanswered goals and Bees could not find a way back. Both teams scored a further goal each in the final period leaving Leeds 5-2 victors.  Sunday night saw Leeds head to the Slough Ice Arena for the first time this season still riding high on their success from the previous evening. This game was a closer affair, Knights laying down the gauntlet early on but Bees didn't allow them to dominate as they had the day before. Bees had a run of mi...
