Weekend Teaser: Another tough weekend for the Bees

What does weekend twelve have in store for the Bees? Season weekend eleven review  Last weekend the Bees headed to Bristol on Saturday with a short benched line up as Adam Rosbottom, Hallam Wilson and Josh Smith were all missing from roster. Bees were however fortunate to have Preston Tombs and Josh Poole available to play and it was Josh who scored the Bees first goal of the night and his first Bees and NIHL goal. If was a class finish and worth looking at if you haven't seen it already. Bees were two goals down by 10.23 and although they brought the scores level at 2-2 the Pitbulls were able to benefit from the extra skaters and came away with a 4-3 win. Bees other scorers were Liam Morris and Vanya Antonov. On Sunday the Bees squad was depleted as no two way players were available and the news was not going to get any better after Marcel Balaz was wiped from the gamesheet and joined the gang on the "injury balcony". This was never ideal but with the team playing the...

Weekend Teaser: Bees look to maintain the momentum after last Sunday's win

What does weekend eleven have in store for the Bees? Season weekend ten review  It was a weekend of highs and lows. On Saturday evening the Bees travelled to Leeds to take on the league leaders. Travelling with just 14 skaters the team knew this would be a struggle but it was an opportunity to give Dean Skinns some valuable ice time. The Knights ended the evening with an 8-2 win, Bees goals came from Vanya Antonov and Dominik Gabaj. Bees welcomed the Swindon Wildcats in Slough on the Sunday. This was the Wildcats third game in three days but they were buoyant having picked up 4 points in the first two games. This game was dominated by some first class netminding by both teams. The second period was the only period in regulation to see any goals. The Wildcats took a 2 goal lead before the Bees got on the scoresheet with a powerplay goal scored by Will Stead. This was followed by an even handed goal scored by Dominik Gabaj just 70 seconds later. With a 2-2 ...

Weekend Teaser: The Bees prepare for some tough games

What does weekend ten have in store for the Bees? Season weekend nine review  The Bees played the Telford Tigers twice last weekend. The first game was at home on Saturday where the Tigers came away with a 6-1 win. Bees goal was scored by Dominik Gabaj. Whilst I concede the Tigers were the better team on the night, there were some missed calls that the Bees bench may have felt a bit aggrieved about. They were however unable to score on a 5 on 3 and the Tigers capitalised on their chances. Sunday saw the Bees travel to Telford. The Tigers were limited to just 2 goals but as the Bees were unable to beat Brad Day in the Tigers goal, the Tigers earned themselves a 4 point weekend. Max Wright had a save percentage of 93.75 on the night. My opinion - These were must win games for the Bees and with Vanya Antonov absent on the Saturday night and some of the two-way players unavailable on both nights it made the job impossible for the team. They never gave up and were disappoin...

What does weekend nine have in store for the Bees? Season weekend eight review  The Bees travelled to Milton Keynes on Saturday to take on the Lightning who were sitting at the top of the league at the time. Bees were shorthanded as Dominik Gabaj did not ice and many of the two-way players were unavailable. Fortunately the Cardiff Canucks allowed Josh Poole to play even though his team had fixtures. The Lightning made the most of the short bench and were 3-0 up by 4.38 on the clock. A powerplay opportunity got the Bees on the board as Marcel Balaz scored unassisted at 7.28. The Lightning then scored another goal and the period ended 4-1. A goalless second period gave the Bees a glimmer of hope but two goals in the third for the Lightning sealed their victory. There were positives for the Bees as they pulled themselves together after the poor start and kept the MK offence in check on the whole for the remainder of the game.  Sunday saw the Raiders visit Sloug...

Weekend Teaser: Bees look to get back to winning ways

What does weekend eight have in store for the Bees? Season weekend seven review  Last weekend the Bees faced the Hull Seahawks home and away. Unfortunately the Bees were short benched due to the lack of availability of many of the two-way deal players and were still missing Josh Smith and Hallam Wilson too. The home games saw Bees take the lead within the first five minutes as Will Stead was on target. Sadly this was to be the Bees only goal, not for the want of trying. The Seahawks went on to score four goals and although Max Wright registered a 91.11% save percentage, the Seahawks were just too good.  The Seahawks goalie, Dmitri Zimozdra ended the night on a 96.67% save percentage and he was outstanding. The Bees travelled up to Hull with even less skaters than Saturday night. All things considered they did well to come away with a 6-1 loss. Dan Rose scored the only Bees goal, a powerplay goal assisted by Will Stead.      My opinion - Hull are def...
