Dominik Gabaj becomes Player Coach of the Bees Last weekend's opposition too strong for hard working Bees Last weekend was a bitter pill to swallow on many levels with two losses and a match penalty handed to Dominic Gabaj. On Saturday Bees travelled to Peterborough to play the in form Phantoms team and came away with a 5-3 loss. The first period ended 3-0 to Phantoms and, despite a spirited fight back with a goal of the season contender from Dan Rose, the Bees couldn't find their way back. Sunday evening saw the Wildcats visit Slough, this game started off very evenly with Swindon edging the first period 1-0. The second period saw the Wildcats add a further goal before Alan Lack brought the Bees back to within one goal. With just 2.54 left on the period Dominik Gabaj was given a 5 + match penalty for checking to the head and Wildcats were to capitalise on this and the loss of Gabaj from the game. With just over 5 minutes left of the game Bees found themselves 4-1 down but on t...

Bees face surprise team Phantoms and struggling Wildcats Last weekend saw just one hard earned point for the Bees The thing about ice hockey is that you can never predict with any certainty what will happen in any game and last weekend proved this to be the case. Bees made the long road trip to Hull hoping to bring two points back home with them. Bees took a two goal lead into the first period break with goals from Mogg and Galazzi and all was going to plan. Seahawks had a different plan and we saw them take a 3-2 lead at the end of the second period. Third period saw the Bees level through a Lindgren goal but Hull then found another gear and added two more goals to their tally. Goss was pulled to give the extra man but a clearance from the Hull defensive zone took a weird deflection off the plexi and the puck rolled into the Bees net. Final score was 6-3 to the Seahawks recording their first home win of the season.   Sunday saw the Bristol Pitbulls visit Slough for th...

Weekend Teaser: Injury struck Bees looking to build on huge Wildcats win

Injury struck Bees looking to build on huge Wildcats win Last weekend definitely had its wow moments  Going into last weekend it seemed that Bees had an uphill battle and few of us thought that,  despite our faith in the team,  the combination of a growing injury list and playing two teams with huge depth we realistically had very little chance of coming away with any points. How wrong we were as Doug and the boys had completely different ideas. All the players gave 100%, Gossy stood firm in the net and team tactics were spot on allowing the team to leave  Swindon with 2 points after a 3-2 win. Take a Iook at the highlights of the match if you get the chance, James Tipple's reaction to our third goal is priceless.  Sunday saw the Milton Keynes Lightning visit Slough. They were a strong team benefiiting from their full bench and despite them coming away with a 7-4 win Bees didn't make it easy for them. Going into the third period Bees were 4-2 down and a MK...

Roster struggles continue despite midweek signing of Dan Bradley  A weekend of highs and lows for the Bees  Last weekend was always going to be difficult, three consecutive games are going to push any team to the limit but with players sidelined with injury, the Bees had a tough job on their hands. Raiders were our first opponents on Friday evening. Both teams seemed fairly evenly matched and a scoreline of Bees 1 - 2 Raiders at the end of the first period confirmed this. The Bees opening goal scored by JJ Pitchley. This was his first goal for the Bees against his old team and he was having a great game until he had to leave the ice after hitting the boards hard. The second period saw the teams trading goals until Raiders put their foot on the gas to gain a two goal lead late in the period, going into the break with a 6-4 lead over the Bees. The third period saw Raiders score two further goals and Bees were unable to find the back of the net again. The officials s...
