New Signing: Aidan Doughty

Image
Welcome back Aidan Bees announced that Aidan Doughty has signed for next season, Aidan was on the Bees roster between 2018 and 2020 and made a huge impression in those two seasons. This is great news on so many levels, most importantly it means that Aidan is recovering well from his spinal surgery following a freak accident in January when he injured his L3 lumbar bone after he fell awkwardly into the boards at Basingstoke whilst playing for the Bison. Aidan played his junior hockey on the Isle of Wight before heading to the USA for three years playing for three Colorado clubs in the Western States Hockey League. He returned to the Wightlink Raiders shortly before the Ryde rink closed in 2016, he then moved on to spells with the Solent Devils and Streatham before signing with the Bees in 2018. During his two seasons with the Bees he made a huge contribution to the offence finishing 4th and 6th in the Bees scoring charts. His second season with the Bees was coach Dom's first season ...

New Signing: Brendan Baird

Welcome back Brendan Baird! Returning to the Bees after three years away with the Bison, Brendan was the highest scoring defender and 7th overall points scorer for Bison in 22/23 with 5 goals and 18 assists in the regular season. We know Brendan very well from his time with the Bees and he will bring a lot to the team with his skill and passion and, as long as he keeps his penalty taking in check, he should make a great addition to the Bees defence. He's a player you would rather have on your team than be playing against and will no doubt be an asset to the roster. His signing brings the number of Bees defenders currently signed up to 4, we are yet to see if Dom will bring in an import defender with the extra non-British player spot available to the teams next season but I suspect this is something he is seriously working on.

New Signing: Vanya Antonov

Welcome back Vanya, the first fresh signing ahead of next season. Giving the fans what they wanted, Dom brings Vanya back to the Bees. Every Bees fan was disappointed when Vanya announced he was stepping down from playing with the Bees in early 2020 to pursue an opportunity outside of ice hockey. However, his plans changed and he found himself on the roster with Streatham IHC as the structure of their league was more suited to his off ice requirements. Bees were fortunate to borrow him when needed, within the league rules, and he was always influential when wearing the black, white and gold.  Vanya's stats during his time at Streatham are outstanding with 246 points in 90 games, but we are not surprised as we all know he makes a huge impact on the ice with his skill and speed. Vanya would be an asset to any team in our league so Dom must be thrilled that he has got him to put pen to paper for 23/24.

Weekend Teaser: Bees last weekend of the season doesn't go to plan

Bees last weekend of the season doesn't go to plan Bees had a rare Friday evening fixture in Romford which didn't exactly go to plan with transportation or the result. The @beesIHCfans decided to give the train a go as the Elizabeth line goes straight from Slough to Romford. It was easy, the train took 1hr 20 mins and we had a 5 minute walk to the rink. It turned out to be a great move as it took many fans over 3 hours on the M25. Sadly, this would not be the only part of the evening to not go to plan for some with Bees losing 8-2. They just couldn't break through Raiders defence who showed why they deserved their playoff slot. Bees goals came from Dan Rose and Brendan Walkom on the night. Sunday saw the Wildcats visit Slough for James Galazzi's last game as a Bee before retirement. Bees were on top for the first period taking a 3-2 lead into the break courtesy of goals from Brendan Walkom, Ryan Webb and Josh Smith. Bees started the second period strong but Wildcats man...
